This is why I really want to see Mattel come out with a model with an extended or extra grip. It's about damn time.Someone needs to tell him not to grab the middle of the rod - what was crazy was that it took that long to break.
I mostly agree with you however I 100% approve of the snoopy rod classic targeting hatchery steelhead on the OP.Reminds me of the "what weight rod is ok for steelhead" debate.
The whole catching large fish on a Barbie rod genre needs to go away. Its a bad visual on a user group that should be promoting conservation.
I respect you position. Unfortunately some of those folks vote. I think the reality is, with our DFWs becoming ever more influenced by politics, can we tell non fishers to stay in their lane and expect positive results for the fishing community? Telling people they shouldn't have a seat at the table makes them want one even more.I do however feel a bit of that we need to stop apologizing for our actions to people who are clueless about them.. people who are not of the fishing community need to mind their own business when it comes to fishing and they need to be told as much..
I agree with you whole heartedly. People should MYOB and butt out of the personal decisions that others make, and certainly shouldn't weaponize the government to enforce their beliefs on others.I mostly agree with you however I 100% approve of the snoopy rod classic targeting hatchery steelhead on the OP.

Not fly fishing, but still, kinda crazy. Willamette in Portland.
@WindKnot, you actually know this spot well.
Just because you are not a part of the fishing community does not take away a persons reason to care about fish, or water, or anything else regarding the habitat and resource. If someone is trying to tell me what kind of rod and line to use(fly, tenkara, casting or whatever) , well then they can butt out. Harming the resource is everyone's business, and he should not be targeting sturgeon with a ridiculous setup.
I think of myself as a decent human. Yet I disagree with your opinion. Fisheries are anyones business that need protein in their diet, or even care about another of God's creatures for whatever reason they choose to care about them. Fishing and fishermen are not the center of the universe. We are just more humans with opinions. If you do no harm with what you do, do whatever you want, but otherwise, someone is going to want to stick their nose in your business, and they are well justified to do so.I agree he shouldn't be targeting sturgeon that way but it is none of anyone outside the fishing communities business. I think trapping is kinda barbaric... that's my problem not the problem of people who trap. By opinion is irrelevant and politically I need to keep my trap shut about it and that's how everyone should view issues that don't concern them directly. That's one of the basics of being a decent human being. Hell that's basic to being an adult human being decent or not. The sport fishing community does a damn good job of policing our own. Outside meddling has always been bad.
