Ah, yep. Yes, the play is annoying! That was not going to work for me.
Back in my bird hunting days I reloaded my own shotgun shells so I have a bunch of old Winchester AA shells. I cut a couple shells with some snips to make my own bushings. A few years in and they're still working well. Shotgun shell material is very tough so it will probably last another few years and then I'll just make more. The Winchester AAs are also smooth versus shells like Federal that have the ridges or ribs.

If you don't have shotgun shell empties laying around I'm sure there is some similar material out there. Thin, smooth, tough plastic that can be cut and then just rolled in there. I use 2 thick plastic washers between the ring clip and the bottom of the locks instead of springs. The bushing seems to stay put with no issues.
