I did a quick family visit to Santa Barbara over the weekend. Clear skies, temps were pushing 80, gentle breeze; not a bit shabby. No major parts fell off the airplane.



Of course, we had to go for a beach walk, and my sister found this cool Wavy Turban shell. It's just over 4" at the widest point.




And what's a beach walk without cleaning up a bunch of trash?

Whale skull that washed up in front of our condo during Saturday night's weather shitshow. Not sure of the species (I have an ask in to my SIL the cetacean PhD), but if I had to guess based on location and odds, I'd say a grey whale.

After an incredibly savage night of 25'+ surf, the ocean has reclaimed the skull.
In its place, she left an ~$80,000 wave monitoring buoy that somehow slipped its tether.
