Steelhead Fly Swap

Alright…I couldn’t find the exact bags I was looking for but I did uncover these guys though. Free for the taking if you want to visit Tualatin. And incorporate them into our fly swap somehow. Also happy to snail mail them if that’s easier.

Otherwise, Portland Fly Shop is prob your next option.View attachment 3358
Thats awsome, Tualatin is a bit out of the way, let me look tomorrow if downtown is open, also dont know my schedule, then I'll let ya know, thanks.

Just knocked out my first batch of flies. 🤠

Since this caused me to finally dug out my tying stuff (haven’t tied in about three years) I might move on to a second set. Feels like I’m just starting to figure out this tying thing again…having some fun with it.

(And just like all of you special butterflies, each of these are a little bit unique.)

Recipe:
  • Protube
  • UV chenille
  • Light weighted disc
  • Marabou

I've always liked the pink purple color combination but I'm curious about what appear to be horns like on a classic salmon fly. Are these macaw or some other material?

Lady Amherst center tails…I had a few pieces hanging around and tossed in what I could. Same with the jungle cock. I had an old skin that my neighbors dog got a hold of when the bastard snuck into my garage. So they’re a little beat up, but hey…so am I! 🤣

Love it! Got a super buggy thing going on…and the wing reminds me of the royal treatment fly out of the shop in West Linn, OR. I’d consider that cork as a good celebratory omen.
Wifes celebrating lol! I dont drink, anymore. I think over how ever many years 10+ we've collected a big box full of corks. They are good for projects, like bulletin boards etc... Or I want to use them to make poppers, and other old school flies and lures. Like this...

Edit: Not my flies just screen shots off the net, for reference later.

Yea look up Bunyan Bug, theres a bit of history out there, also was the fly in the movie a river runs through it. People collect the antique ones.

Holy cow you guys. Those are some nice flies. I'm glad that I'm going to able to provide a fly that you won't feel bad breaking off when you snag.

:D
