New big game jaws to replace my standards!
The standard jaws had been slightly deformed from mashing barbs on hooks prior to tying. The final blow was dealt by a Fish Skull next generation articulated shank. There is not much bite after inserting a 2/0 or larger hook. I have had them pop out many times, the last one took out a corner from one side of the jaw.
Be warned.
I will never mash barbs, tie smaller than 16, insert a shank (OPST, Aqua), or use a next gen articulated shank with these!
The originals served me well for many years. I have learned some lessons, these will last forever. The original jaws will tie old school rigged shanks on occasion, and remain serviceable for most hooks.
