Non-Fly Spinners, etc for kids rod?

Love it, this one has a lifetime of memories plus a life long scar on my index finger when I tried to adjust the drag while connected to a trophy fish on the Bighorn and the spool fell off...again in the 60's not long after the dam was built.

Spoon Fishing for Steelhead by Bill Herzog
and Spinner Fishing for Salmon Steelhead and Trout by Jed Davis are both outstanding if you want to nerd out on hardware. Those books changed my life.

Can confirm. That spoon book really changed the trajectory of my fishing journey.

Another vote for panther martins if we are using spinners.
I kinda think that because the blades aren’t on a clevis they seem to spin better after they get bent which seems to happen a lot for me.
We use Thomas bouyants mostly tho instead of spinners
