Took the day off and fished a lake with a friend. Hadn’t fished a lake in about a year, so I was pretty rusty on my lake game or at least my reactions.
Started out trolling a brown angora leech which produced a number of fish.
I noticed a lot of birds working one area of the lake and some nice pink lady sized bugs hatching, so we anchored up and deployed the bobbers. My friend had his best luck with a red body / white bead chironomid patterns and myself with a light pink and white bead.
I missed a ton of fish but we still caught a fair amount when the bobber went down. Some recent planter plus a good number of nice 14-16” fat fish that fought well and jumped a lot. My friend landed the biggest fish which was in the 18” range.
Also got one fish on a raccoon.
Lots of heads and entrails in the water at the launch, so it must have been a good opener.
Only 5 boats on the lake today and nice weather made for a enjoyable day on the water.
