Solitude on a small, hike-in, seep lake 4/26/2023

The problem I see with carrying bear spray is that the wind has to be moving in the right direction, the range is very limited, and at least with the bear spray that I have, I think I only have about 7 seconds of spray before it runs out (I may be wrong about the amount of time, as my memory isn't what it used to be). I feel like I would only make that steaming mad bull just a lot madder than he already was. Has anyone actually used bear spray against a bear or bull? If so, what was the result?
This is why I also carry the 10mm, we get wind here and wind doesn’t effect it much. 😁

I’m sure bear spray would work. It affects the mucus membranes. Yes, wind direction is very important. You don’t want to be the recipient of the spray. You can always try a short 1 second burst in the bulls direction. It might be enough to deter him.

I'm picturing Rex in his Chuck Norris chaps taking down a snot snorting big bad bull.........

I wasn’t sure what to do if the bull charged me while I was carrying my float tube. What would you have done?
I would have done what I always do when confronted by an angry bull......

Keep the float tube between you and the bull while you kiss your ass goodbye!
