SOLD
My favorite Granger era is the earlier, "Goodwin Granger" era, when the tapers and rods were extra smooth casting. My favorite Granger model is the "Favorite" with its "jasper" wraps aged to a beautiful golden green with yellow trim wraps. My favorite Granger length is the 8-1/2', or 8642 as they named it. My favorite line weight is a 5. I've owned this rod for a few years now, caught my one and only Metolius River trout on it, and otherwise it's been sitting in my closet. I have too many bamboo and other rods, so in a moment of insanity, I'm putting this one up for sale. If you want a rod for the Yakima, don't use this one, it's too light. If you want a bush wacking stick, leave this at home, it's too long. But if you simply enjoy feeling a perfect taper send a #16 dry fly 60' into a pool on the Metolius, you might really like this one.
Details:
- Original 3 piece, 2 tips, rod sock, tube and label.
- Not original: the end of one tip was broken when I received it so I had it professionally scarfed to match the intact other tip. Two of the guide wrap sections near that scarfed tip ended up slightly darker than the original wraps. Not bad, but not perfect.
- Good cork, ferrules, seat.
My fly rods collection has gotten too large so I'm giving up some fun ones, including this Granger Favorite. Granger Favorites tend to be higher on the collectible scale, but since this rod has one tip scarfed it is not 100% original, so its value for collectors is reduced.
