Softening Old Lines

I have two lines that I do not believe are silk (no burned hair smell when singed) and they do not look or feel like early synthetic. They are both off of pre-war fly reels. Both lines are stiff, but otherwise in very good condition. Not dirty or worn and both easily pass the hard pull test for rot.

Can anyone share a procedure on how I might get these lines softened?

Thanks in advance for any help.
 
Try mixing 50/50 paraffin and mineral oil. Then add a touch of Vaseline. Should not hurt any thing
