Soap Lake Queens (giant bass)

The day started like a lot of my adventures lately with dropping my son off at school. I would have about a 4 hour window before parent pick up and then baseball. I zipped to the pond and promptly took a photo of a launch frog. Nature is cool:

Last year I only got one but I saw a few decent fish so decided to give it another go this year. This proved to be a very good decision. On the board with a good fish: 20230503_103342-02.jpeg

A short while later:

At this point in the day I was feeling already pretty good as I worked into a back pond:

Boom 18-19 incher:

Then a short while later I had a blow up (fishing strict topwater) that I just straight up yelled aggggggghhhhhhhh as I set the hook because it was shockingly aggressive. A toilet bowl flushed and my popper disappeared. My ten weight was corked as I worked the fish out from cover:

A beautiful 20.5 inch 5+ pound largemouth. Now could my day get better?

A few casts later I caught a momma that was so fat she was about to pop:

And then I casted and got snagged on a Cattail. What happened next was straight out of nat geo. This giant head comes up and just delicately grabs it🤣

I hammer it and am fast into a bigger bass. This is why I use heavy fly rods. 21 to 22 inches and over 6 pounds:

Probably will be my fish of the year:

I caught a few more and called it day. One for the books. As good as it gets.

All fish caught on this:

One of my best bass days ever. Did I say that already? 🤠

Hope all is well with everyone!🍻

Damn, I'm not too far.
I might have to make your spot a little busier (but I won't tell family or friends lol)

Think you need to have your own tv show. Nice job!

At first the pics looked blurry and out of focus….went to hit ‘Love’ and realized I was not logged in. Logged in and the pics became crystal clear and I could make out your fly and other details. The difference of being logged in or not really effects the quality of photos.

Do you mind sharing what fly line you use? I'll be using an 8wt on the west side of the mountains.
Thanks,
Mark

Truly amazing results by the Bass Master. Must ask, how do you put up with fishing in the heat? Also, can the waters you fish get too warm for even Bass to be active?

Jeebus Billy, those are some Bass - great job.

cheers

Wow, great report and fabulous pictures. There’s a small local lake that is supposed to have bass in it. You’re inspiring me to give this bass on a fly rod thing a try.
