So why did we switch exactly…?

I have a small pencil. This is what covid isolation has wrought

What are you insinuating here? That two of people on the leadership board that have Asian surnames are complicit in insidious data mining? I believe this thinking can be dangerous. Toronto has a higher population of folks with Asian descent, so it would be possible for VS to have a more diverse leadership board.

If you did a little bit more digging, you'd see that As of March 31, 2021, VerticalScope employed 238 employees, of which 175 were based in Canada, 44 were based in the U.S., 16 were based in Estonia and 3 were based in the Cayman Islands. (Source: https://privatecapitaljournal.com/nordstar-and-hedgewood-backed-verticalscope-files-for-ipo-on-tsx/). No mention of China or South Korea.

Furthermore, if you see who's backing Vertical Scope, you'll find an investment group called Torstar. Take a look at the senior level execs for Torstar - https://www.torstar.com/company/officers-and-senior-executive. All white people with Eurocentric surnames.

I believe your racial assumptions are incorrect here.
Agreed, it was a very dubious take. Thank you for taking the time to rebut. South Korea is, like, a completely different country than China. Toronto is a super cosmopolitan city. Etc., etc. I think the thing to focus on is the plain old vulture-style monetization of a communal good, not whatever that was.

be hard to manage this change of ownership worse, apparently their hallmark on all such. As to the 'soft glove' approach of VSA, piss poor lame, coming across like a substitute teacher filling in. Lotta pissed off members over there, just saw a thread titled "Fuck Vertiscope"...we're watching a slow motion train wreck.

you can still edit your posts. so you could go in and change what is said on the post.
There used to be a setting that locked threads from being changed after a few months. Not sure if they changed it upon buying it. I know only an admin/mod could edit older ones. But Chris may have changed that after I resigned.

All things considered, Including the track history of Jack Welch style Raid and Destroy tactics, would it be worth our time to lodge complaints with FTC and FCC ? Anti trust violations, etc.

They have "3 employees in the Cayman Islands". Trying to tackle this company is a complete waste of time. The best you could do is remove your posts, one by one, or pay a CS student to automate it for you.

I have over 12,000 posts over there. Launching a search and destroy bot could really screw with their site performance. Not a bad idea.

Hmmmmm.... so, infect the old site with a virus, or run whats considered a malicious script, in order to delete your presence so they can't monetize your work....
Hard to bend my ethics hard enough to make it viable...

Ok so it is a bad idea. I don’t have the expertise to pull it off anyway.
