Smooth fly line to backing connection

I'm curious, how many different lines are you using for these marlin or albacore. I could see just using a fast sink since you're typically stripping fast, you'd still be in the top few feet. Are you having to do slower strips at time (kinda like muskies)? I use far more line types for tiger muskies that I get after than I do for anything else I fish for (from a boat) in the salt for that reason.....the slow, methodical type of retrieve. Maybe I'm just ignorant here...

I am more worried about switching lines fast while GT fishing or something else around coral heads or dredging. Not changing to a different type of line - replacing a broken one.
