Smoke on the water

Buzzy

I prefer to call them strike indicators.

Wildfire smoke has been pretty thick but lightened today so I grabbed the 8 weight and headed out. The water was glass smooth which did let me spot a few fish. If there'd been much of a riffle (which I prefer on CLEAR days) I don't think I would have had much chance of seeing fish before I stepped on them...

Luckily I was able to fool one fish (should have been three more but crappy casts means bye bye and I can do crappy casts).

This rock, another ten feet back, looked like it was mudding. Three casts and it didn't spook = rock. Capr Rock.

Pretty scales

Little guy peeled off all the fly line and perhaps 30 yards of backing, started to get nervous and put more pressure on the fish. That jig hook isn't very stout but it held.
