Small reel.

I posted this long time ago on an old site. At Fred Meyer one day many blue moons ago and they had a big bin of discounted and close out fishing gear. I grabbed this for $5.00. They had several. Should have grabbed them all. πŸ˜†

I have not used it to date. 25ish years. I love looking at it and playing with it. Smooth soft sounding outgoing and silent intake. Keep thinking I’ll do a 1-2 weight rod but have not to date. Maybe in future (I’m hoping). But really Fred Meyers???? but then I remember seeing
Lamiglass rods there including a beautiful Esprit that I was Gaga over. But it was a 10 weight and had no use for.

Looks like a nice reel and what a great deal at $5.00. Hopefully you’ll be able to put it to use sometime.

That is a nice looking reel, looks kind of like an Abel. Is it heavy?

It is light but maybe not by today’s dainty machined fly reel standards. It’s well built and has a solid rigid feel. I lost the box and paperwork on it during a move.

Fin Nor made some really high quality stuff. I had several Tycoon Fin Nor offshore trolling reels years ago. I preferred them over my Penn Internationals.

The Fin Nor, Fin ite reels were machined from barstock and were very nicely anodized. I think they were made in the USA as well but it’s possible that it was made in Korea.

Yeah that is very possible but I swear paperwork or box had North Carolina on it. That could also have been offices not mfg’er.

I don’t believe that any of the Fin ite reels were produced in North Carolina. The USA made Fin ite reels were produced just before Fin Nor was sold and moved from Davie, Florida to Wilmington, North Carolina around 2001. I think that they were then produced overseas in Korea.

What’s the diameter of the Fin Nor reel? Very nice little reel, I fish 3” and smaller reels on my shorty bamboo rods. St. George jr, Featherweight, Flyweight, CFO to name a few…..

I probably need a cork stacked glass rod for this reel? πŸ˜†

My thought was always to get a 6’6” 2/3 weight glass rod and use this as a small water rod or even icicle river rod special . Get a cortland 444 peach DT. Use to fish that river a bit but have not for many years now.
