I quit using the 1Lb canisters years ago when I had a couple of them leak after unscrewing them from the camp stove.
For those in the Puget Sound area that would like to recycle the 1Lb. green canisters, there are Recology dropoffs all around the area.
They'll also accept block styrafoam, dead LED batteries and bulbs, etc...
