Sizes 18 and up

I’m one of the fortunate ones, 65 and don't need glasses. I regularly use small flies with 6x and 7x tippet, even tying at dusk.....sometimes with several choice words! When you tie a #18 fly, use a bigger hook and tie the fly smaller. C&F midge fly threaders might be an option. Do you still have and fish your bamboo?
I am envious - guess it is karma coming back to me after poking fun at my old man squinting and holding the flies up to a sky background, and here I am, lost without glasses.

I still fish my bamboo every now and then, but during the pandemic have developed a surplus of rods that I need to try. It will be fun to revisit and compare to the "fancier" stuff.

It's also good to see I am not just wimping out, but am now kind of motivated to give the tinies a try again!

If your challenge is threading your tippet through a small fly, there are some effective tools that can help:

Use to be able to tie on a 18 with 7X, now I can’t tie the boat to the dock without my bi-focals. I’ll turn 75 in a few weeks and hope to be able to
Have cataract surgery in April or May. Maybe able to fish the high lakes when the snow melts.

16 like most. And since my sight is already going to hell it's too much work anymore to watch the vicinity of the fly for strikes, still or moving. So color is white or light.

I had that done about 4 years ago. Now I can see better but sunlight and snow in the sun suck big time. I only wore sun glasses to fish. Now I need them for everything outside.
