Short notice open seat in the Gorge

Rob Allen

Life of the Party
Looks like winds will be light tomorrow and I'm planning on fishing for smallmouth in the Celilo pool of the Columbia.
My wife is out of town so I have an open seat..
Any takers?

Mostly dirt bagging but I will have one fly rod for some experimentation

If it wasn't such a slog to get there I would sure welcome that opportunity.

Man I would as I'll be in the neighborhood but I'll be on a time crunch and just have enough time to tangle with a carp or two. Maybe next time.

If I wasn’t working tomorrow and dealing with some big time stuff I’d be interested. It would be fun to walk the sunny banks and look for early morels too. Have fun!

I have plans tomorrow, or would be down! Good luck!

A report.. the river was glass when I launched at 10:30 ish
I went to my first spot, fished it about an hour and caught 6 or so fish
2 were weighed at 4 lbs. 1 at 3 lbs and several were 2 lbs. Went to another spot and caught 2 more smaller fish in the 14 inch range, went to another spot and caught 1 more about 15 inches.
Tried to fish for walleye for an hour with no success. Tried my first spot again with no luck. Headed to the ramp and was out by 4pm. Pretty good for a short day. Around 5 fish fir 15lbs
Based on the tournament there last weekend I would have finished in the middle of the pack. 3 lbs out of the top spot. Just giving this info for context of how good the fishing can be here.

Didn't pick up the fly rod. Didn't feel patient enough to fish 12-20 feet of water. Picture is my big fish 4.07 lbs

Hey Rob, I'm curious what surface water temp was.

Some nice smallies there!

Dang, I missed this or I probably would have joined you. Even with the rain it sure has been warm lately. Saw an Osprey working the basin when i took the dog to the beach Saturday. Judging by the lack of a sand bar it looks like the river was way up.

Next weekend looks like some promising weather, I'll have to pull out the toon and see what I can find.
