The Sharpes 85 was built using the Charles Ritz Fario Club taper. Sharpes 1981 catalog says this: Staggered Ferrule Rods, 2 piece, 1 top. Designed especially for the Dry Fly Fishierman, these rods have the tip joint larger than the butt, and give great acfuracy and casting ability. Fario 85. 8ft 5 ins, 5oz, 5-6 weight. Dermott Wilson's 1981 catalog says this. Here is the Sharpe's impregnated version of a rod first designed and made famous by Charles ritz. Perzon et Michel made the original version under the name "Fario Club". Sharpe's use exactly the same design and taper, and the same staggered ferrule...but add their own process of impregnation...The Fario 85 is a beautiful rod...It's a little lighter and a little more delicate than the 88...Middle-to-butt action. Impregnated cane by Sharpe's. Staggered ferrule, of course. Shaped handle with nickel skeleton-strem fitting. Large-diameter tip ring, snake intermediates. Tyings: green tipped with red. A No. 5 line will suffice - but you may prefer a No. 6 in difficult windy conditions. 2-piece, 1 top.
