) in central WA hawg hunting.
I spent a day on one of the big water project lakes that probably contains a dozen species, including this one:
Would have loved to hook this Lake Whitefish before it expired.
@Billy turned me onto the late season opportunities to chase the mixed species bite. I started with my version of his excellent craw jiggy things and found takers right away.
Throughout the morning I cast to rocky structure and worked deeper flats out to 35’ deep. I marked a lot of fish on my finder and gained confidence when those turned out to be bass. There were willing bass everywhere but the ones I caught topped out around 12”. There was enough W that I kicked back to the west side to find a lee. The west side features steep rock walls. I kept tight to the structure and kept finding bass. Around 2PM the W laid down and I saw fish activity in the SW corner. I switched to my intermediate line and an unweighted minnow.
That was fun while it lasted!
I have caught trout, walleye, LMB, perch, carp, and other species on other days but just SMB and crappie this day.
