Had a very similar experience the last time I dipped smelt in the Cowlitz (roughly a million or so years ago). A big bull seal lion popped up right where I was running the net. Nothing cute about those things. Looked like a 1000 pound Rottweiler with flippers. Waaay too close for comfort! I've also heard of them in the Washougal above the bridge at the mercantile.Seals I can live with. It’s those fuck-off giant sea lions I can do without. Seen them up the Sandy. I was wading some flats on the Columbia last summer about 10 feet from the drop off when this sea lion pops up, roars at me, and gives me the eye. Those things are really big up close.
This is one NASTY Air plane.I know how to deal with these Seals. PIcture it. Little buggers just chilling on a big rock

They really are. When I was working in Boise for 3 years my work was right under the take off and landing path at the air port and i guess there is an A10 squadron that trains there. Really beautiful sounding aircraft. I am looking at the radio controlled version of it right now as long as I still have good eyes. This is one NASTY Air plane.
