First up:

I really think Sean Desai, who they created the position of "Associate Head Coach" is going to be head coach soon. What the speculation is, and it makes sense, is Pete is helping transition the team and making the big moves that would be too much for a new head coach. The draft and plans will have Desai calling a lot of shots while Pete acts more as "Team President" (which he is in addition to being head coach).

I think if this is the case, it'll be interesting times and potentially a fresh look on the rebuild. I'm excited for a possible very new era.

Just my opinion, but I think if and when that happens, Carroll needs to totally leave the organization.
They’ll never get a fresh start if he still has his hands in any part of the organization.
Let the new staff do their own thing without somebody looking over their shoulder.

Nothing to add as of yet except...I see SF's post was "last edited by a moderator" and that has me thinking. Do moderators have the right/ability to delete anything about the Rams, Broncs, Chiefs or any other team that isn't Seahawks 2022?

I think Evan edited his post and since I quoted it, it looked like a mod had edited my post, which didn’t happen as my post was not changed if I recall correctly what I wrote.
Likely a just bug in the new site that @Evan B might need to look at.
The edit times on both posts are identical.

Thanks for the explanation. Not that I care what the mods do but I was trying to imagine what you might write that the mods would have to "moderate".

But I was liking the thought of no non-Seahawk talk in this thread.:)

I edited a typo in my post which was quoted in the other post.

I mentioned Pete retiring in one of the other threads. I don’t think he wants to do a rebuild at 71 years old. Maybe a “big picture” view from the president’s chair is exactly what will happen.

Very conflicted on the Deshaun Watson rumors for so many reasons. There's too much smoke for there not to be something to the allegations. Guess we'll find out today if the grand jury brings charges or not. There seems to be a lot of "guilty before proven innocent" out there from internet warriors, but I'm going to defer to the justice system on this one.

He'd be an upgrade at QB, no doubt. 7yrs younger, and I think a much more capable weapon. So the team would be better with him. But at what cost? Once he starts winning games, do we forget about the drama?

Not exactly an ideal situation. I'd probably rather just take a flyer on Trubisky or do Minshew Mania and wait for our franchise QB, whenever that happens.

I would not be surprised. Because if he's not indicted, somebody is going to take him.
Just have to see what happens...
Seahawks have picked up problem children before, Pete will give a guy a second chance. Whether this guy gets one remains to be seen.

No charges

What's with Minshew mania, not sure I see it.

cheers

Will be interesting to see how quickly the civil portion of Watson issues get settled.
Does he instruct his attorneys to get it done, knowing it will cost some cash but at least puts the legal issues behind him or do he drag this out, have is attorneys play hardball and possibly cloud his trade potential while trying to clear his name. I’d think the former but who knows.

He’ll likely be looking at a suspension which teams interested in acquiring him will need to factor in as well.

Minshew isn't that bad. He's a reasonably accurate passer who was in one horrible situation and medium bad situation.
In a run heavy offense with a good defense on his side. I bet he'd do OK. By most accounts he's a good teammate, and works hard.
Is he great. No.
Is he serviceable. Sure.
Is he a long term guy. Doubtful.

Still a hard no on Watson for me. Dude is a creep, even if the court thinks he didn't do anything that he could be convicted for.

And at the end of the day, even if you ignore all that, the Texans want way too much for him in trade and he has a cap number that is WAY higher than Wilson's was. Hawks would be in worse shape than they were with RW as the QB.

The NFL has suspended guys who never faced any charges, and their investigations drag on forever.
That's the deal for him right now.
