SFR Scotty Anchor repair?

Sorta fishing-related

Probably a long shot but can a Scotty Anchor be repaired? Grabbed my Scotty Anchor system which is always attached with anchor rope and anchor. Low and behold the male extension that groves down into my boat's anchor mount was gone!! Luckly I found it in the back of the pick up. This male extension has a threaded end and a hexagonal nut that fits into the upper portion of the Anchor system.

Many years of use and abuse but always looking for a cheap way out if possible.

Are there threads in the base for that stud to screw into? If so, is there an Allen hole or a way to tighten it from the other side of the base?

There is no way to enter from the other side. When I place the male extension back into top portion the nut fits into a seating area so it can not be turned.

That's a really odd design. I wonder why they would make it that way?

Nothing to lose by cleaning/abrading the area and then rejoin with JB Weld (which is amazingly strong in some circumstances). This looks like a potentially good candidate.

Do not glue.
under the locking swivel is a opening that needs to be pried open. Inside is a nut that came loose.
the cap is the oblong with ridges to lock against the rope. Just use a small screwdriver to pry it up.
Very useful information!

Have you tried removing the stud from the long piece. The long piece may be 2 pieces not one. It appears that there are threads in the bottom of that hole

Were there threads in the base that have stripped out?
Even if there were, there is no way of turning the bolt

Tried, but it seems that the bolt was intended to be permanent so it would seat into the upper portion. I agree with Josh, the design on this is wacky. It would seem there was some sort of washer or nut in the upper portion that broke and now there is nothing to hold the male in place.

OK, thanks Mark. Must have busted/worn off a portion of the bolt because there is not enough of the bolt sticking through the washer for the the nut to take hold.
