I seem very adapt at losing things recently while beach fishing. 😂
First my pliers, then my nippers this weekend.
I’d like to combine those two into one tool. Flat nose pliers for crimping barbs with a nipper that are designed for saltwater use. My old pliers were about 5” long, which was a good size for my pack. Fingernail clippers aren’t going to cover the nipper part of the equation for the long run.
All suggestions welcomed.

I just buy a handful of cheap nippers at the fly shop and zip tie to a retracter. They rust out so fast on the salt they get replaced twice a year. The short doctor slicks pliers with cutters are still good for removing a fly inhaled by a salmon, but I never like the line cutters on forceps. The aluminum Gamakatsu pliers with line cutters are great, but maybe too large for convenient storage (they never rust out)
 
Doesn't Abel make pliers too?

The Gamakatsu pliers are a nice size, do what you need, are saltwater safe, and reasonably priced. I like the included sheath; it's secure yet easy to access and can attach to a pack or belt. It's also small enough to go through TSA in a carry on.

I sure do like those Titanium jobs though!
 
I bought the small Abel here several years back, along with the sheath. I don’t use them often but like them too much to sell.
 
I've had these for years, no rusting as long as they're rinsed.
They have the split ring tip, but there are flat parts on the jaw for barb crimping.
Very light. The tether helps with the losing part ;)
Also on ebay for a few bucks more if you don't like amzn (bought mine before I abandoned that site)
 
I’ve had these for about 8 months now. Have not rinsed them once. I think I paid like 25 bucks at Sportsman’s. I will say I only use them on the boat and not beach fishing where things tend to get more immersed in saltwater and covered in sand and grit. For the beach, I usually have a small lanyard in my front pouch with cheap Amazon forceps, nippers, and a hook sharpening tool I usually have to replace every couple of years.

Good thread, Brian. Four years ago I learned that you don't use Loon's Rogue Mitten Scissor Clamps to remove a 2/0 hook from a large buck coho.... the mitten scissor clamps are great for wimpy trout.
