Checked the link out and the top image appears to be a lesson in how to make a 4 piece rod into a 5 piece. He does state he’s an expert in breaking rods so there’s that.
I do love my customized 690 XP and will use it in Oct/Nov for Albies. No touch required.
Distance and touch are two completely different results unless you’re in the top 5% of flyfisher persons.

I have a Sage 590/4 XP, it's a very nice versitile rod that at one time was my favortie. It can do the jobs that you'd expect a rod of its stature in the Sage line up of its day (in this weight and length configuration) to do, with ease.
Mine probably hasn't seen the light of day for ten or more years only because I've acquired later model fives and feel compelled to fish them. One of these days I should crack open its tube and take it out for a spin.
