I like shorter rods. My issue… πŸ˜†

So last couple of years been fishing with a Sage 7110-4 Z axis with a 450 Rage and 465 switch chucker. I got my hands on the 8120-4 X recently. I swore I wouldn’t do any more sage rods but it was to tempting This is a rod in that is it switch or a spey rod?
Any how I’m thinking 570-600 grain window for this in a skagit head with some T-11/14 sink tips in 10’ and a couple other combo Mow tips. Partial floater/sink tip type. But asking for input before I hit the fly shop to set this new rig up for a soon OP adventure.

Also have a Bauer M5 and a Lamson Litespeed LS4 (1st generation). Not sure which reel to use, at least to start with. Opinions? Bauer 4.25 and sweet drag. Lamson a bit bigger and wider at 4.5” diameter. Also a good performer.

Any input is appreciated…. Any one have this rod/ used it?

I am a big fan of the Gaelforce EMT. Red Shed fly shop, they will send you a demo. A bit more finesse than a Skagit, and for me more fun to cast and fish. It will not handle large weighted flies as well as a Skagit with T14, but handles everything I fish in the winter no problem.
I was fishing the EMT on my Beulah 8124 Platinum and had another fisherman ask me what line I was using as it cast beautifully!

Going with a 575 Skagit Launch and attach some T11 and T14
10’ sinker tip to it…..have
fours days of full fishing. 8120-4 X β€” z axis in 7110-4 and 8134 be used to.
