Hi guys,
I'm thinning the Hardy clone collection. This is one of my favorites simply because of the nice gunmetal color. I've used it on my 7 & 8wt singles as well as my 7wt Chromer Switch. It's a great extra reel for nearly any 7-9wt need. I've added Hardy clickers to this one.

It is a clone of the Hardy St. Aidan and was made by Olympic/Seiko Reel Company in Japan in the 70s or 80s.
It's a great reel for a 7-8wt single-hand or a Trout Spey setup. Also great for 6-7wt switch rods.

Currently setup for right hand retrieve, but easily changed to left.

Reel diameter is 3 3/4", spool diameter is 3 3/8", spool width is 7/8". Weight is 6 oz.

$40 pickup or +$5 to be shipped in WA or OR. $10 shipping anywhere else.

Hi I know you have sold both your reels but I m asking a question.
I have two Hardy 3 5/8ths' Perfect reels that I have been using for WF8 steelhead reels. The reel is really toosmall.
Unfortunately I'm not in the position to buy another Hardy becuase of the $$

Can you suggest Hardy knockoffs like the two you sold so I can begin searching

Thanks

Here are all the Hardy St. Aidan clones made by Olympic that I know about:
Heddon 340
Daiwa 740
Eagle Claw EC-14
Olympic 4340
Roddy 34
Alford 3078
Alford 6078

I've owned and fished the Olympic 4340, Roddy 34 and both the Alfords. The 6078 was nicer than the 3078. The 3078 didn't have quite the same keeper and it seemed the handle was cheaper.
Here's the 6078. I regret selling it a bit. It was nice even without adding Hardy springs & pawls.

If you're thinning your collection, any chance you're getting rid of a 3-4 weight version?

I only have a couple left, including a Berkley 530. I won't be selling the Berkley 530 as it's my current, and favorite, 4wt reel. It's a Hardy Featherweight clone.

Look for the following Featherweight clones on the internet (ebay, Etsy and even OfferUp)-
Heddon 300
Daiwa 700
Berkley 530
Eagle Claw EC-10

Given how Hardy Clones have gone up in price the last few years, this is actually a decent deal now- https://bearsden.com/products/berkley-530-reel

I really like the blue color of the Berkley. The Eagle Claws I've had were a cool brown and bronze two-tone and seemed to have better springs and pawls. I had a mint EC-11 (Hardy LRH clone) that I probably should have kept. The Daiwas are a nice dark gray color. Here's the 720 (Princess clone) I had-

Good luck!

That's some very good info. I am in the process of creating a wee spreadsheet on the different Hardy clones and their respective model numbers. Berkley also offered some nice Hardy clones, but I believe the size tapped out at the Princess.

PM sent. If you get a mint EC-11 I want a 20% discount on it. ;) I should've never sold mine. Yeah, I still have the Berkley 530 and love it. It's my every day WF4F reel. I also still have this mint Cabela's Cahill 1 that is a Princess clone, but with the palm spool. If you can find these they're great to fish with. I believe Red Truck got some of the same ones for their early days. I think these are Hardy clone...clones. Haha! It doesn't have Japan stamped on the seat so no clue where they are made. Probably China, but who knows.

Totally forgot about the Red Truck clones! I have a Red Truck Premium reel, which is a copy of an Islander, and it is super well built and high quality. I'm assuming the Hardy clones are similar quality.
