I think I've already outed myself as a Hardy clone addict. Well, I've sold nearly all of them. Just have a few left and these 2 are probably my favorites. But...I'm currently on a mid-school kick so selling them. I have them listed on Etsy, but I can pull if someone here beats them to it.
Roddy 34- St Aidan clone so what Hardy would call a 3.75" reel. Great for 7-9wt singles, bigger trout speys or 6-7wt switches. I have upgraded this one with Hardy springs and pawls so it's got a nice click and actually decent drag, especially on the bend of a long rod.
It has some dings, but in great shape and Roddy used a nice gunmetal color for this one. It's worn a bit, but you won't worry about this one and it will still look cool.
It's $80 + shipping on Etsy, but for the board I'll go to $70 picked up in Kent/Covington/Maple Valley or $80 shipped.
Olympic 4340- Same St Aidan size as the Roddy 34 and VERY clean. I bought this NIB in 2019 and have fished it a couple times. It's in excellent shape.
One summer with a WF8F for bass and then a couple steelhead trips with a Rio InTouch Switch 7/8. Both had LOTS of backing. These things can pack it away.
This one is also upgraded with Hardy springs and pawls so a nice strong click that is deeper than the original.
I have bought & sold a dozen Hardy clones and this one is as nice as they come. Fish it or collect it, it's pretty cool. I have the original box, parts list and Olympic branded plastic bag.
It's on Etsy for $100 + shipping, but let's go $80 local pickup or $90 shipped to a board member. It will eventually sell on the big orange E, but thought I would give it a go here.
Both of these were made in Japan by the Seiko/Olympic Reel company in the 70s or early 80s, like all the other Hardy clones- Heddon, Berkley, Daiwa, Eagle Claw & Alford.
