Hello out there, Was wondering if there is any rod builders/classes north of Seattle?
While doing some fall cleaning, I came across some older blanks. I would like to either have done or do myself.
any info be appreciated.
Thanks

You may find a local class at one of the Community Colleges or the best luck is finding the local Fly Club as they often have skilled resources. For the internet, I would check out MudHole.com. They are out of Florida but have a bunch of 101-level videos. Good Luck with your build!

This site has a lot of talented rod wrappers and rod builders with a lot of good information they've shared. Perhaps reach out to them.

Wrapping rods is not that hard you just need a few basic tools that are not very expensive. But it gets down to what you want, if you want a custom rod with fancy jewelry it will cost you. I have a friend that was mentored and he’s wrapping some nice rods now and I will reach out to him and get his contact info. He located down south and maybe able to wrap your rods. If you can tie a fly you can easily wrap a rod, the biggest hang up if you will need a turner. I build bamboo rods for a hobby and used to build custom graphite and you have the space I can walk you thru it. And if it’s you first rod buy the preformed cork handles, reel seat and a guide set and your on you way.

Also there is a guy in North Bend the wraps rods and he is on IG and it’s under Snoqualmie rod company. I have not met him but seems like a good guy and builds wraps some nice rods.

I'm happy to meet up somewhere and show a few tricks! I learned from Ron Torda when All About the Fly was open! I also worked for about a year with Jim at XRods. I'll check with Ryan at Avid, maybe we can have a little semiar on rod building. It's really not that hard to do.. Hell even I can do it! Cheerss!
