Road Trip/ East Lake

Took a road trip up to Winthrop, WA with the 11 year old girl. We started out a day later than planned, Saturday 6/24. I unfortunately had a celebration of life for someone I grew up with who was killed in an avalanche in March on Paulina Peak. RIP Hef.

Strangely enough, our first planned destination was East Lake. We got in late Saturday night and went straight to bed. We threw the boat in Sunday. The Callibaetis were popping off pretty good. Fishing Sunday was very good for a wide variety of VERY small browns, rainbows, and Kokanee. But I was at East Lake, the girl was catching fish, I was getting fish on dries, I was plenty happy. I think it was Sunday we got hit with a pretty good thunderstorm complete with hail. There was maybe an inch of precipitation in less than an hour. That was fun! Thankfully everything stayed mostly dry.

After the storm we went out and the callibaetis got going again pretty good. I managed two decent rainbows on dries, and I actually spotted them cruising and nailed my casts, which put a big smile on my face.

And guess who outfished me? The daughter. She got two gorgeous rainbows under an indicator.

That was pretty much the extent of the fishing for the trip besides goofing around up in Winthrop.

It was a great trip with my favorite person.
