sorry to hear, Rick, the staff you made me is essential to safe wading at my age.
Regarding these tariffs: 70% of the consumer goods imported into the US from over 90 countries will be impacted by such escalating costs once deadlines have arrived, some import tariffs being as high as 50%.
Conversely, most of the impacted countries are imposing counter-tariffs on US goods sold to them.
Net impact = higher cost to US consumers for their big box goods, cars, washers and dryers, etc, while exporting US manufacturers lose foreign market share to manufactures from other countries not penalized by import tariffs.
So higher cost to consumers and slow down in domestic manufacturing production due to lower demand.
In economics this is classified as an unsustainable business model, which is why many non-partisan economists are forecasting an inflationary generated recession.
I mentioned to research CUSMA compliance on another forum so I will add it here.

With as bad as the USPS is lately it seems like they're on strike half the time.
Concerning the upcharge, if I needed the best wading staff for difficult conditions, it wouldn't even phase me, I acquire it; happily I already have one.

Sorry about the issue Rick. Just wanted to say I used my staff for the first time a few weeks ago on an Oregon river and it was extremely helpful/durable. A few other guys on the river loved it so hopefully you'll see a few more orders one of these days when things are not as insane.

Have only been using Canada post, as UPS, FedEx and purilator are nearly double the cost and add a hefty "customs brokerage fee" to the receiver upon delivery.
These handmade staffs are the best, no question. I recently made the unwise decision to use my old folding staff, as I wanted to save a bit of weight on my hike in to the river. It's lighter than my Riverstick, but it's just not as good. Packing up from my fishing, the 6 sections would not separate. I finally managed to break it down by bashing each joint against a log, and gripping each side with the pieces of anti-slip rubber mat that I stash in the pockets of my vests and jacket. On the other hand, my Riverstick is so much better designed and constructed. It NEVER has a problem.
RE: Canada Post on strike. They did this last fall as well, crippling business and citizens needing to ship in time for Christmas. I understand that the problem is that Canada Post has had a failed business model for many years, so they don't have the cash flow to survive. They are reported to be losing $10,000,000 a day. That's why they plan on closing rural post offices, stop home delivery, and haven't settled their labour dispute since 2024. Too bad they don't have a look at Japan Post, which has a positive revenue model, because they are also a major successful bank.

Herkileez, I don’t understand why you, a Canadian, have to charge a “pre-payment duty” on your products that are purchased by Americans. I hadn’t heard of this before.
As we know, it is Americans who have to pay the US tariff that is applied to products they import from other countries (paid to US Customs and Border Protection).
Are you able to explain this financial situation that you are in?
The tariff has to be paid prior to shipping, it is up to the shipper to collect (pay) the tariff.
Canada post requires proof (13 character code) that tariffs have been prepaid before they will accept parcels for shipping. UPS, Fedex and Purilator collect tariff on delivery, but more than double cost.
I scored a used Riverstick that is a little short for me, want to trade?
That might be too tall for me. I'm 5'10".
