Report - Whidbey Lake

Mukman

Life of the Party
Fished a non-selective gear lake on Whidbey on Friday for the first time. After many years of Lone and Pass, I thought I'd venture out a little. Pouring down rain the whole time I was there. Fished two rods - one actively, one passively. Active was Type VI with a white booby, passive was floating with 14 ft leader with bead head olive bugger. Standard fare.

Good news - Caught so many fish I lost count.
Semi-disappointing news - EVERY STINKING one of them was a dink. Couldn't find big brothers or sisters to save my life. Tried a zebra midge/blood worm under an indicator at 18' for awhile, same result. Tried fishing DEEP (despite being a pretty small lake, it's 60' deep) along the dropoffs - same thing.

I'll go back in the fall; maybe they will have put on a little weight.

Fun, wet day.

Beautiful lake, weather notwithstanding.
