Reel identification help

I prefer to call them strike indicators.

Zen Leecher uka Bill's widow, Susan, is preparing to sell much of Bill's collection of rods, reels, fly lines, fly boxes, vises, tools and tying materials. I spent a few hours with her today helping to price items. The following reel and three spools have no markings that I could find identifying the manufacturer. Does anyone recognize this reel brand?

Any help is appreciated.

If the reel doesn’t have a prominent manufacturer name on it, it is probably a cheaper reel.

Can’t help with the reel ID Pat, but HBW is probably right; if there’s no obvious marking it’s probably an off brand. Still nice looking reel and spools though. Any idea what size the lines are?

Also good on you for helping Susan out with this. I often wonder what my wife will do with my stuff once I’m gone and hope that there’s someone honest and square that will help her out. I just recently inventoried all my rods reels and lines in an Excel file, printed it off and put it in the cabinet with all the gear.

Pics are all of the handle side. What's the drag side look like?
I didn't (foolishly) take a picture of the drag system......... nor can I really describe it; the drag did appear robust. Given the "off brand" comments, I don't know that I'd trust the drag system to a hot Alaska coho........

Two of the lines were "240" Scandi (trout spey I think). And I agree with you and HBW; certainly not Orvis, Lamson, Tibor.....

Sorry, Pat - I meant how it looked, more than how functional the drag is. The spools are pretty generic looking - similar to many models of Ross, Okuma, Orvis, overseas knockoffs, etc. The back plate tends to have more identifying features; solid, ported, markings, shape of the drag knob, that kind of thing.
Is that spool release push button, or twist release? Lamson-type click in? I don't see any kind of lever

The knob in the center twists to unlock, like my Tibor Backcountry. Susan and I looked at pretty much every surface for any manufacturing ID - there isn't any that we could find.

Time to take the line and backing off to see if there is anything on the spindle?:cool::cool:

Susan did suggest doing so but I nixed it - I don't remember ever seeing a spindle advertising the manufacturer ;-)
I vote for a Korean or Chinese knock-off... I have a couple that are similar (though not exactly the same)...
Sort of what I've concluded... in looking over Bill's fly rod inventory I couldn't come up with what rod he might had in mind for using these rather large reels. I did find a custom built ten foot rod (4 pc, nicely done, "Sage" brown) that may have been his switch rod...
