The other I checked out was a typical 9' 6 wt. Stiff as a fireplace poker; I don't care for them.
Had a 9' 10wt a number of years ago. Not overly stiff, not overly soft. Wish I still had it.
That's why I like it in the float tube, it really punches a cast when needed without collapsing and loosing the loop and line speed.Reminds me of my buddy's 8 weight Winston I made a few casts on out of the skiff fishing SRC. That thing had this cool extra gear you could find when punching the cast outbound. Really liked it, really couldn't afford one![]()
I would lean more towards that description. They had a CPS line of rods around the same time--those were significantly faster.Huh, curious. Always thought my 9.5' 8 weight was on the softer side.
