After my outing with @mcswny a couple of days ago where a hog (for this particular system) broke me off, and then where I ended up going for an unplanned swim, I needed a bit of redemption. The boy and I loaded up our 3wts and took the relatively short drive back to this particular creek.
Things started out well with this little dude on the first cast.
This guy is par for the course here. Small, but willing, players. I moved up the run to a deeper section, cast, and then felt a tremendous hit. As I got him closer to the surface I was shocked. This may be a pretty standard, uneventful fish for a lot of you, but I think this is the largest fish I have ever seen in this system. Ollie threw out a net to help me land him, we snapped a few pictures, and then he was off back to his spot in the hole.
Ollie and I explored a bit more of the river, and then decided to call it a day. I’m pretty stoked to have finally landed in of the bigger fish that I suspected this system held. Looking forward to going back again.
