@ Scott Salzer and I did a quick 5 day run to the ranch last week. Good thing we did, the lakes in the valley are warming up an the highlands are close behind. The funny thing were start to realize is that when we fish together sometimes one does well, the other not so well. Day one was Scotty’s day. He nailed the right depth and bug and picked up a half dozen or so Cutties. In the lake before that I nailed this monster…

The next lake we hit had some decent Bow’s in it that fought well. Trouble was finding them, I think we both got 3 or 4. They had dark green backs and dark spots.

The next lake we hit has traditionally been a brook trout lake. But this spring WDFW in their infinite wisdom (ha) they planted rainbows, lots of them. Well, they’re doing pretty well and growing fast. Sure they’re fun but brookies are few and far between.

One thing we weren’t lacking for was good food and drink. Steaks one night, pasta and Italian sausage the next. A nice mix of ales and whiskeys topped each evening off.

As always the best part is time with your friend, the camaraderie, the laughs, and even some serious talk. I’m not even mad he caught more fish than me…
