I saw @Cabezon 's post about Sage's service, so I thought I'd add a comment about my recent Orvis experience, which has satisfied me so far.
I too broke a rod through user error while fishing, on July 6. Logged in to Orvis but didn't see my 2020 Recon 4pc 9' 4wt on my list so I registered it, went to the rod repair page, selected it, told them the top two sections were broke, paid the $65, printed the return label, and drove down the street leave it at Staples.
Shipping to/from Orvis always takes 7-8 days to WW. I got a notice July 18 they had received the rod for repair. August 16 I got an email the rod is on it's way back, expected about the 22nd.
I'll have some confidence knowing it's been inspected and repaired correctly. Iooking forward to seeing the results. If it's like the Sage I had repaired in '91 I'll never notice. Being down a rod for 6-7 weeks isn't bad, nor is $65, for something that was my fault.
