SFR Reapplication of Sunscreen?

Sorta fishing-related
It seems there is always some place that gets exposed a bit regardless of what protection you are wearing.
Earlier this year I fished a lake. I thought I was well protected but didn’t notice the area between my socks and end of my pants legs was exposed when sitting in the boat. Let’s just say I had a couple of inches of well done skin above my ankles. The sun will get you every time it’s given the opportunity.

I got very severely sunburned on both legs fishing off north shore Oahu many years ago. I mean severely. Aloe Vera saved me a lot of pain, but I still lost skin in sheets as I started peeling. Now, I keep my blindingly pale legs covered as much as possible.

There's a lot of science that suggests the modern diet is playing a factor. The skin being composed of layers rich in lipids (fats) and the types of fat you eat can shape the fatty acid composition of your skin. If the skin is loaded with poly unsaturated fats like linoleic acid it becomes more reactive under the sun.
We're cooking ourselves ?

Dermatologists love fisherman.

Well I got some good news from the doc yesterday. Biopsy results came back negative for basal cell carcinoma. Turns out it was sebaceous hyperplasia which can mimic basal cell. Now I’ll have this cool looking scar on my nose as a reminder to always lather up.

Thanks for posting that.

I am NOT a white boy.

Every Dr. tells me don't worry about moles, "your not a white boy". My chest looks like a mole factory putting out all sorts of interesting moles. And when I go to the dermatologist I get a verbal tour of various mole names. That really is not helpful.

I did finally track down a genetic crowd hanging around in the Caucasus Mountains that have dark skin. So my chances of skin cancer are less.

Yeah, but Bob Marley died of melanoma on his toe!!!

Oh well, at this point I will die of something relatively soon.

Death is not optional.
