Offering: Mint Restored #60 8-1/2' 2f'r
Well, the time has come and I'm in need of funds for a large purchase, so I'm ready to put this beautiful 8-1/2' #60 2f ferruled rod up for sale. It is 8-1/2', 3 pieces with the extra tip, fully (and I mean perfectly) restored by the great Scott Whitman. I have fished it two days since Scott's restoration and cast it many times on my lawn and shared it at local bamboo rod collector gatherings. The taper is different (better) than other 8-1/2' 2f Heddons with less swell going down towards the grip in the butt section. My guess is this is a taper made to work best with the circassian walnut grip. The result is a very sweet and strong casting rod, somewhat toward the parabolic and less toward the standard taper. I found it to be a far better casting rod than a #35 of the same length and ferrule size, IMO. In full disclosure the restoration by Scott included a scarf of the last 2" under the wrap on the male ferrule of the mid section. The scarf would not be known otherwise and the rod is in mint-restored condition. The original sock and tube look their age, well used but are original. I'm asking $1,200 shipped and insured or $1,000 in person cash purchase, but feel free to make an offer I will give offers consideration. Please let me know if you have any questions.
