Raquel passed away today

I just watched her in Bandolero with Jimmy Stewart, Dean Martin, and George Kennedy. Beautiful woman, and she was quite good in that movie. RIP Ms Welch.
She played a part in a Roller Derby type movie filmed in Portland. This was back when I was co-owner of a motorcycle shop and me and one of the partners were attending a Yamaha new model convention at the same hotel where Welch and other actors in the movie were staying.
During the day she held a press conference in one of the rooms close to where the Yamaha event was held. Me and my partner had notebooks we got from the convention and during a break from the motorcycles, heard about the news conference and decided to wander in with the news reporters. With our notebooks in hand we must have looked like reporters because no one asked who the hell we were.
Raquel was sitting at a table with her co stars for the movie and taking questions from the reporters.
I was probably 20 feet away and was shocked to see how short she was (officially 5'6"). I don't know why but I always thought she must have been quite tall but she was not. The other female actors were much taller. When the movie finally came out I went to see it and was surprised that she looked just as tall as the other actors.
Thus ends my Raquel Welch story ....

A lovely, honorable and accomplished woman. I’d hope we see her like again, but these seem different times.
AKA: “My I would like to tell you how freaking old I am.”, story. With that, I don’t feel too far behind.
Also with that, one of my colleagues during Christmas pulled me for our Secret Santa gift exchange and one of her gifts to me included a print out of one your comics. I went ahead and basked in the glory of knowing, albeit distantly, you personally.
. Think that was my first exposure to Racquel.
