Quin road closure

FYI for anyone interested.

Quinault South and North Shore Roads Update:

Jefferson County Commissioners and the Olympic National Park Deputy Supervisor held a public meeting, via Zoom. The public was invited to comment.

South Shore:
At this time, there is no plan to repair/funding available for the South Shore Road this season.

North Shore:
The Upper Quinault River Bridge is scheduled to open in April.
Beginning July 4, the North Shore Road will be closed prior to Big Creek. The closure is expected to last a month.

During this time, there will be no access to the Enchanted Valley or the North Fork Quinault/Irely Lake Trails from July 4 to when the Big Creek project is completed.

Public comment was made to the importance of both roads being open, noting the North Shore Road was not designed for high-volume traffic. Commissioners took note.

The Hoh Road has acquired funding through various channels and work will begin soon, with anticipation that the road will be open this year.

Please consider contacting the Jefferson County Commissioners and let them know how important the South Shore Road is. They've done a fantastic job with making the Hoh Road happen. Thank you.

Thanks for the update! Can imagine the concern with all the graves creek/enchanted valley crowd tackling the big tight cornered hill on the upper north shore rd becoming a real tangle. Add sinkhole-sized potholes growing as well from the overflow traffic. Ouch.

I think North shore is closed as well right now. Maybe for bridge work. I need to roll up and confirm.

I actually went up a week ago...tuesday, I think? North shore rd was open all the way to the landing of that N side of the bridge, and blocked there. It washed under some but looks like an easy fill when they want to do it. I didn't drive to the NF campground/trailhead spur road.
They will need to fix a spot just beyond the Big creek bridge that is at the road and exposed, and one high water away from closing the road at that point.
