Quick wilderness trip

Lake we camped at water was extremely low. Like gonna dry up and be a stream low by end of August. Other lakes we hiked to looked great. There’s plenty of spring water up there. Good top water action on chunky brookies. Legs are sore today.

Oh yea, I ate a mountain house chicken and rice that expired in ‘09. Older than my teenage children. I think that means I need to get out more, and go thru some backpacking meals.

It wasn’t too bad! The texture of chicken chunks was maybe downgraded a bit, but eh, I was hungry. I read somewhere that the freeze dried meals are good for 30 years, and those expiration dates are garbage….i think I was pushing the 30 years

I have some Mountain House chicken fried rice that's been in my cupboard at least 5 years...expires in 2053.
