Question for those who aren't using dark mode to view the site

Doesn't piss off me. Evan is the Dark(mode) Prince on this topic.

I don't hate darkmode and use it on some websites. But many of my formative internet forum years were on a site that used the classic white background style (and was the first database backed forum software package). I ended up being involved with that community for 15+ years and, to me, forums = light design.

I also don't tend to look at the internet in the dark very often.
JK, of course. I’m giving Darkmode a try, but not sure I’m going to like it. Black on white just seems normal to me.

I tried it but didn't care for the look, no headaches anyway so no need to switch it up.

I have no problem using non-dark mode but the option is nice... I don't use it but it is nice to know I can if I wanted to.

Normally am all dark mode but not enough contrast between various separations on this one. And +1 to what Nick said.

Funny, there's another (non-fishing) forum I'm on and their light mode is an absolute eye strain. But I've never had a problem with this site in light mode. But thanks for the tip all the same. I too didn't realize it was an option.

So what I'm taking from all this is that I need to make the light version worse. Got it!

Honestly, I did want some feedback. I like the current dark mode combo a lot, but will tweak things if needed. It's honestly a very difficult thing to pull off, and it's all manual. I have to manually pick the color, text size, everything for each element. So it's a chore. Took a long time to get me to this point, but I can adjust a bit more if need be.

Make it worse and I'll probably just like it even more - I'm that kinda' person.

cheers

I like my eyes, just wish everything was still 20/20 and no readers necessary. No headaches here. I'm used to dark print on a light background. I tried the dark mode, but it wasn't an improvement for me.

I've been looking at computer screens for 30 plus years now and I prefer the white background. I was playing around with my computer a while back and I ended up with the dark screen. I went into a panic mode and had to ask on the other site how to get back to my comfort zone, I was told how to do it and I did. But with my little brain I forgot how I did it.

To those who had issue with the differentiation between read/unread posts, I think it should be improved now.

I always browse by "new posts" so never really see the read/not new posts. So I forget that's a thing.

Definitely much better now

I have enjoyed the dark mode. In CAD one of the first settings we explore is white or black background, as it had been recommended in the past that a dark background can reduce eye strain over long drafting sessions. The kids end up about 50/50.

The first time I switched over to dark mode, I was logged out when the page refreshed. Signed back in and it was back to light mode. Switched to dark mode again and it stuck that time. Thx for coming to my TED talk.
