Morning,

Im looking to buy some more Larva Lace, pre slit foam, for dry flies. I haven't bought this item in 20 years and it is not a common product for fly shops anymore. Ive found two places that sell it. The first is Hagens Fishing Components out of South Dakota and the second is Whitetail Fly Tieing Supplies out of North Carolina. Has anyone ordered from these outfits and if so what did you think?

Thank You in advance for any and all help.

Bob

Mail order is pretty secure nowadays and you are doing the right thing to check on an outfit before buying from them if you can. Living here on the Frozen Tundra and the edge of wilderness I have to mail order or just go without. I order extensively and since January 1, 2018 have made 761 orders from Amazon alone. Among others I order from are Home Depot, Newegg, BestBuy, Lowes, Walmart, JStockard, Jackery, Outcast Boats and several more for over 800 orders in 7 years. Right off the top of my head I can think of just 3 orders that have gone wrong and I lost money, a total of around $200. Just mouse nuts in the overall scheme of things.

A couple of things to remember when ordering-especially from Amazon. Only order from Amazon if it says 'shipped from Amazon' in the ad. If it is shipped from Sunkook Daze or some other weird otherworldly name don't take the chance. I ordered an induction plate from such an outfit when I failed to check the source and paid the price. One other caveat-if the price is too good to be true it probably is and the likelihood of a scam goes way up. We are all looking for bargains but don't be afraid to pay a fair price.

Thanks Iveofione. Where is the area you call the Frozen Tundra????? Canadaish??? Northern Montana Hi-Line country???

I didnt think to check of the "shipped from Amazon" part. Thanks on this also.

I ended up ordering from Whitetail Fly Tieing Supplies.

Happy Thanksgiving.
