incoming tide was very fun today. Clean, cold water, some weed but not too bad. And fish too.
That is Lewis' moon snail, Polinices lewissii. They roam sand and mud flats looking for clams to bore into and consume. They produce a very distinctive gelatinous collar that contains the eggs.

Fun weather this morning at NS beach. Got there to late for the high tide but stuck around to play in the wind. Waves were almost Hawaii like for a time but settled down to regular. Didn’t see any piscatorial activity from the beach or boats out front. Lots of salad on the menu until the wind eased just a tad.
Felt like fall today with some wind, clouds and rain. Keep it coming.

You're right about it feeling like fall fishing today. I fished for SRC on an MA-13 beach this morning. It was cloudy, the wind was blowing, the waves were up, and my stripping hand got cold. It sure made the post-fishing coffee taste good, though.
Nice day out on the water.
Bonus bycatch with one of the fattest searuns I’ve had the pleasure to shake hands with. It hasn’t missed many meals. Good fight with multiple jumps.

Is there a trick to predicting visibility in areas? I fished around the west side of Squaxin Island today but the water was unexpectedly cloudy.
If it’s cloudy today at rising tide will it be tomorrow? Does sediment migrate making it random? Would an inlet over be clear? Are there seasonal patterns, ie: “rising in summer at x beach leaves sediment until next cycle.”? Is this a thing of MA13?
To me it seems one day it’s clear the next the water is cloudy with no weather differences.

Wind, tide height and nearby mud / sand flats may explain having cloudy water or not.
After a good low, the incoming tide combined with decent wind waves constantly beating on mud or sand as the tide rises will cloud things up.

My experience with this is usually on bigger exchanges, when the plug gets pulled it sets up rips and micro rips that disturb water. Also as SF mentioned wind and waves will also stir certain beaches up at certain times. I've mostly seen the cloudy water around high tide changes.
