Puget Sound

I fished a MA9 beach 5-11 this morning. SO MANY SMALL REZZIES. 0-2 on good sized fish. The seals were very aggressive and got a couple of the rezzies as soon as I unhooked them. One particular seal just hung out at my feet for a while then would blast after every fish I hooked/landed/released.

Saw 1 pink hit the beach along with a handful of hatchery coho.

I don’t think so quite yet, at least on the beaches. Not many jumpers where I was at yesterday. I lost one nice coho who put some Houdini moves on me.😂

I headed to another very popular beach to check out the crowds but didn’t fish there. Lots of grim faces and empty Home Depot buckets. Lowe’s, Ace, Costco or just the good old plan white bucket may change their luck. Pink Buzz Bomb and Rotator futures are up though based on participation levels. This rain should help.

Fished a popular MA 9 beach this morning for 2.5 hours before work. 0-1, handful of landed and lost shakers. No pinks observed and only a single adult fish observed landed. Kind of a bummer considering the tide and conditions. Hopefully it picked up after I left.

What are you looking at me for, I don’t know where the coho are dude. You should be telling me!

Hit PP again this am for a short visit. Heavy mist and lack of activity cut my am short. Water was calm and clear. I have hit this beach 3 times in last 10 days. I know it’s getting close….. there was 21 boats right off the beach 100-150 yards out. Other two days none or just a couple of boats. Might try GH or even Hop on ferry tomorrow. 🫤

Explored the west side beaches this weekend. Saw a couple jump, didn't see anyone catching anything (I only caught every piece of floating salad that came my way). Chatting with a guy this morning who was fly fishing a beach he also reported nothing really going on still.

In other news I've started to fall out of love with my beach boost, I like the idea of a two handed overhand rod, but a nice single hand 7wt would be usable in more situations and I feel like as I've gotten better at casting I can manage the single hand better now. Just need to find the scratch.
Sorta the same conclusion I came to using my short switch rod on the beach. My frustration was with trying to keep the running line out of the salad at my feet even with a stripping basket. Would like to try the Boost Blue though.

Fished MA11 this morning. Thought we ran into the motherload as school after school moved through but almost as quickly as it started it went completely dead. A few real toads that gave the 8wt a workout. Some already forming humps.

What is the fly? A chartreuse/pink clouser type? Looks like a little flash and maybe purple too????

Fly on the left. High tie clouser with some UV Kreelex and Pearl flashabou between the chartreuse and pink GITD flashabou and Krystal Flash over the wing.
