That happened to me before, first cast of the day and it broke near the handle. I guess rod fatigue, had some internal cracks and it couldn’t handle the load anymore, boom!View attachment 161741
Ended an unproductive session. Snapped in the butt section not sure how that happens

Congratulations!! That will cook up just fine.I fished MA9 5:30-11:00 today. Lots of small rezzies around, I probably caught a dozen 15" or smaller. I saw a few bigger fish hit the beach but went 0-2 on my large fish.
I played a game of how small is too small to bonk, ultimately deciding it was larger than this

but smaller than this

I landed 2 fish that were 1.5-2x this size but both were unclipped.
I strung it up and let it bleed while I fished a bit longer. A bit later I hooked up on a small fish 10 feet in front of a big seal. I stripped it in real quick as the seal disappeared. Got it to hand, unhooked it and sent it on its way. When I looked up, the seal was about 2 feet from me in thigh deep water sniffing around my strung fish. I startled the hell out of me. I tossed my fish in the stripping basket and a few seconds later the seal headed off.

Cheers to my first PS harvest, despite its diminutive size. There's enough for the wife and I to have dinner .
Thanks! The place felt A LOT fisher than a couple weeks agoCongratulations!! That will cook up just fine.
Sculpins are pretty much the rite of passage to saltwater fishing in the SoundAfter moving here almost a year ago I finally got the chance to get out and fish. I went to the nearby secret beach by Greenwood and caught three. This was my biggest. I don’t think it’s a Pink, ah ….maybe it’s a Silver!View attachment 162144
I'm surprised no one has jumped on this: Atlantic salmon. After moving here almost a year ago I finally got the chance to get out and fish. I went to the nearby secret beach by Greenwood and caught three. This was my biggest. I don’t think it’s a Pink, ah ….maybe it’s a Silver!View attachment 162144
Fished a new to me MA 9 beach today and saw minimal fish activity in the morning without much water moving. Didn’t see a salmon caught and my only action was a couple of sculpin. Saw a couple pinks jump way off but they never materialized near the beach.
I also seem to struggle on incoming tides but not worth staying inside over.
