Puget Sound

Good number of fish to hand today but not much size wise. The wind turned out to be more robust than predicted. Everything on chum fry again today. A few pics from today.

Took the boat out and covered a lot of water today with @jasmillo , got into a cutt or two but it was mostly a rezzie kind of day. It was a lot of fun chasing and casting at the rezzie pods that were putting on a little blitz show out there. Didn't see any school of chum fry but we think that's what they were getting fat on, even the gulls got into some of that action.

Pink shimp caught fish early morning and it was all fry patterns afterward, the barred clouser was the best of the group.

Frustrating day today, likely because it wasn’t a Tuesday. 😂
Got some fish but based on the activity I saw, should have gotten a lot more. Changed flies a lot, used my scissors to remove flash and made flies shorter but just never quite got it dialed in. Nice day on the water regardless. Back to the vise this week for some ideas I have for some fry patterns.

Barefoot Chardonnay? I think that is a wine many years ago that was a 5.99 regular bottle special at Costco, Trader Joe’s or somewhere but was decent then word got out and became a more expensive wine. Demand I guess.

Tuesday would be a good choice.
That's when the 6 pounders are out.
My chum fry this year use possum hair, hatchet harvested under a blurry, but full moon.
Surprised to see a retired guy out on a weekend, you'd better get the hang of things soon, before I report you to the RGFA...and they send you back to work.
😆

Your frustrating/bad days are like my best days ever from the beach!

Experience was similar to @Stonedfish today Hit a couple spots with Lou from my boat. Lots of fry around and lots of fish on them. We both lost too many fish today but also landed enough to make it a solid day. Multiple casts into pods of crashing fish today did not result in a bite. Especially with rezzies but early on with SRC as well. Eventually we found that very small, sparse ties seemed to be getting more attention. I also think there were so many real fry around it was tough to get them to notice artificials.

Fishing was alright today, caught a mix of cutts and rezzies and we did spot some small schools of fry around so maybe things are picking up! Got a into a mess of rezzies but also a lot of refusals it was maddening. We tossed flies right into those rezzie pods but only hooked up a small percentage of time, it seems they were very keyed in on those tiny fry and ignoring our offerings. Wasn't until @jasmillo switched to a tiny fry pattern to "match the hatch" I followed suit and started to hook more of them. Super fun though, no complaints here.

No fishing today but I needed to get out of the house. Took a nice long walk on the beach. Added a few pieces to my beach glass collection jar.
Mr Skate had a bad day…..

Hit the south sound today. Ended up with five cutts and two rezzies. All the cutts were about this size, so nothing special size wise.

I’d say based on the amount of fry I saw today versus last week, last week was the peak outmigration. There were fish on them, but nothing like last week and not nearly as many fry. There will be more to come, just not that big huge amount.

Had a very interesting encounter if you’d call it that while driving down today. It was just past 6:00 so still dark. I’m heading down the hill towards the Narrows bridge when a vehicle with no lights entered onto Highway 16 heading eastbound in the westbound lanes from the Jackson St exit. Luckily it hadn’t made it completely into my lane and I could see my headlights reflect off its headlights, which allowed me to swerve into the other lane to avoid hitting it. If I had come by a few seconds later I have no doubt I’d have hit it head on. I pulled over just past the Jackson St exit and called 911. I believe others behind me must have as well as soon three WSP vehicles with their lights on were headed that way at high speed from the Gig Harbor side.
I was shaking for awhile after that. Might need to start bringing clean shorts with me.
I checked the WSDOT alert page when I got to my destination, but didn’t see any incidents listed so hopefully the person got off the highway quickly when they realized their mistake.
