Puget Sound

It was suggested to wipe it with an alcohol wipe to get the coating off by a shop owner per SA.
Steve Godshall mentioned to me about using steel wool to remove static on an intermediate that didn’t sink, so you magic eraser is in the ball park.
If I’m fishing in heavy current for src which isn’t often with that line, I always stick my rod tip underwater to assist with the sink rate.
I’d love for them to make a full type 2 Sonar Titan or just a I/3 rather than the I/2/3.

I like the 1/2/3. It took a bit of use before started it sinking properly

Look a lot like the Japanese Oyster Drill (Ocinebrellus inornatus) due to the ridges..
I agree with Jake and Smalma. My first thought was that it might be one of the local whelk species, such as Nucella lamellosa (dog whelk), but the lip of the opening into the shell in your second picture is too thick to be Nucella. But it is a great match to the Japanese oyster drill (see here and here). They are an invasive species that first appeared in Puget Sound in the 1920's with imported Pacific oysters. They are now a big problem for oyster farmers in places like Willapa Bay. Like many other predatory snails, they use a combination of a file-like radula (sort of an extendable tongue) and acidic salivary secretions to drill a hole into the shell of their prey (oysters - especially spat, mussels, clams, barnacles). When they penetrate in deep enough, they secrete digestive enzymes to finish off the job.

Looking at the 6wt full intermediate. I’ve been using the SA Frequency full sink intermediate for awhile which is superb at the $60 price point, in my opinion. I’ll either stick with that line in a heavier size for my 6wt or try the titan.

I fished a state park in MA13 today and went 1-2 on the incoming tide. On the board for 2024! Lost a slightly smaller fish at the net two casts before landing this fish. This is one of the better fights I can remember for an SRC for me. Brownish sea run bugger stripped slow was the ticket!

I'm also on the prowl for my next 6wt intermediate. Are you saying you're happy with the WF6I Frequency on your 6wt rod, but are thinking a WF7I would be even better? That's sort of what I'm thinking since the Frequency is a true weight line.

Both my 6wt rods are sticks so respond well to half weight heavy or more lines. I probably should just get the Titan, but I've read good things about the Frequency intermediate. I will go with the 7 if I go that route.
My old cheap Airflo Velocity has lasted WAY longer than I could have ever imagined, but it's time to upgrade. Airflo makes them to last, that's for sure.
I love my WF4F Frequency Boost line. I wish they made a full intermediate in the Boost. It's a half heavy line, made for beginners, and casts very well shooting or on long lines. It's like if the Titan had more manners. ;)

I’m going to take the Cabela’s Clear Intermediate in WF6 and the Sonar Titan out to compare this weekend. Glad you guys mentioned the alcohol/magic eraser trick as I’d be sad if it didn’t sink well.

I may try using some of the sinking line dressing too.

I had ann idea of buying an 8wt of the Frequency and cutting about 6 or 7 ft out of the mid head to make a more compact shooter.

I thought my first Sonar Titan intermediate was a mislabeled floater. 😂
My second, even after a good amount of use fishes kind of more like a hover then a full intermediate. The sink rate is 1.25” isp versus most full intermediates which are 1.5” ips. Small difference but it definitely sinks much slower in my opinion than the Rio OBS and Airflo Beach full intermediate lines I’ve used.
Let us know how you like the Cabela's line.

I’ve been running the 6wt frequency intermediate on my 5wt Scott Flex (given it’s a true line weight). It casts great, just the set up overall was not super powerful. It still packed a punch, but I struggled on windy days. I’m picky about line color and prefer a single colored line in white, pale blue, or pale green. The frequency checked that box. It also casts significantly more like a traditional WF line than the OBS I have. I struggle with the clunkiness of the OBS head. I’m hoping that upgrading to a 6wt rod and a 7wt (or even 8wt) frequency line will help pack a bigger punch on windy days.

I miss my little rezzie friends.

So weird how that fishery changed without the stocking numbers or release timing changing to my knowledge.
Used to be pretty much a guaranteed winter things. Must have found a new home with better chow unless they are getting eaten........

Really digging this taper, its advertised as a lake line and its Rio...but wow. Might have to research more about it and try it if the Cabela's fails.

I really wish Rio would get their shit together. IMO, no line is more efficient at getting a fly in the water fishing than the OBS.

I’ve found lines that will get the job done, but nothing close to as well as the OBS. I’ve basically just resigned myself to the fact I should always have two on hand for when one needs to go back for replacement.
