Postponing my i5 commute this eve to wait for traffic, I unpacked the 3wt and took the dog for a walk. The sun danced in the drizzle leaving a rainbow and a nice night to boot.



I forgot my waders and was a reminder just how close these fish cruise shore and structure. Watched a denial at my feet on a nice size cutt, I think my dog spooked it…

Found this decent size starry flounder.

And 1/4 on chum. They were cruising different spots, maybe from the rain or learning to evade the seals.

My net got annihilated from this fish, the slight rip turned into a flap. Ordered a replacement and going to get a clear thick rubber one designated for chum.

I don't know. I met her owner Rose and Matida the dog a few days ago for the first time!

First time out for SRC yesterday in a long while because, well, life.

Hooked into two. Got one up to the net and he said, not today Sir! Did manage to land this guy before I got trapped by the tide.

Fun day in the salt today. Started off chasing chum. Only one spot held them in numbers and the fishing was good. Hooked a dozen or so and landed 6. Switched to SRC and landed a few, missed a few over two beaches.

Some fisheries have retention available, others have coho. The coho intermix with the chum and run in the same groups. Even in the Deep South Sound chum runs you find coho. I’d love to catch more of them because I’d like to know if they are hatchery or wild. Granted not sure if Squaxin is clipping all the net penners

First time out in a while, little blustery but seemed fishy, hooked a handful of these, herring? Some in the mouth, some in the side, none of their bigger cousins today but just had a tiny window.

Same on the east side of the Cascades. Planning to watch leaves accumulate in my yard and tie some flies.
